Members of the Canadian publishing industry gathered yesterday for the Canadian Online Publishing Awards gala, which took place at the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto. Gold and Silver awards were presented to news media outlets, consumer magazines and B2B publications to recognize their online publishing achievements for the past year.
Leading all magazines in the business to business division – open to trade and association publications – is University Affairs with 5 Gold awards; the magazine won the highest honour for Best Website Design, Best Video Content, Best Email Newsletter Design and Engagement, Best News Coverage and Best Blog or Column.
Another multiple award-winner, Salon Magazine took home three Gold awards; for Best Infographic/Data Visualization, Best Media Website and Best Online Campaign.
Receiving two Gold awards each were IT World Canada (Best Branded Content, Best Use of Social Media) and Graduate School of Journalism (Best Article or Series, Best Interactive Story). OpenCanada.org also won Gold for Best Editorial Packaging and Silver for Best Article or Series.
The Gold medal for the coveted Best Digital Publication award went to Alberta Oil Magazine (Venture Publishing). Canadian Mortgage Professionals (KMI Publishing and Events Ltd.) received the Silver medal.
